Marlborough Football Academy REPRESENTATIVE Teams 2024


The Marlborough Football Academy is part of the Mainland Football / NZ Football Talent Development Programme, providing a regional hub for talent development. 

The academy complements existing club and school football programmes by adding focused training hours with specialist coaching / development for players.

The Academy will run through the season, with trials mid May and the first training starting end of May, through to mid October, and includes entry in to the Christchurch International Cup in July (13th, 14th & 15th Grades only), and the Sth Island Representative Tournaments in October (All Grades 12th - 15th) as the 'Marlborough' team, plus 3x scheduled Academy Game Days v Nelson Academies in June, August and September (All Grades 12th - 15th).

With the return of the tier 1 premier South Island junior football tournaments, we will be sending a representative team from Marlborough to compete in each age group from 12th Grade through to 15th Grade, and these will be under our Marlborough Football Academy.

Please note - For our Marlborough Academy/representative teams there are no dispensations, we put together our strongest teams in each age group to represent Marlborough and compete in tier 1 Sth Island tournaments. You play in your own year of birth for representative football, regardless of what grade you play in here locally at club level. Boys play in our boys rep teams and girls play in our girls rep teams.  

Please also note, there will still be tier 2 regional mixed tournaments for club teams to enter in to, so we will still be running the Tasman Club reps for all Marlborough & Nelson club players of all abilities to be able to experience and enjoy a tournament, and we will have more information about that and dates out soon.

ALL REGISTERED PLAYERS FROM THE 2023 SEASON WILL BE SENT AN EMAIL DIRECT FROM MARLBOROUGH FOOTBALL ON 27th FEBRUARY 2024 TO INVITE THEM TO TRIAL IN THE TEAM THEY ARE ELIGIBLE FOR IN 2024.

GIRLS:  

There are no academy groups separate for girls as we don’t have the numbers for separate academy girls age groups based on registrations. But, girls are welcome to trial in their age grade alongside the boys, and those capable can join in the boys group weekly academy trainings and cost will be half price $150 as you wont be travelling away to the 2 tournaments, the boys squads will travel as boys teams to Christchurch International Cup and Sth Island Representative tournaments.

We WILL still have trials again this year in June for Marlborough girls representative sides for the Sth Island Representative Tournaments in October.  We will advertise these once the season is underway and we can see how many girls we have registered this year in each age group and if we have enough to form mixed age teams.





COST: Once teams are selected all players will be charged $300 *Due 1st July 

*THE $300 COVERS WEEKLY TRAININGS & INCLUDES ACADEMY/REP PLAYING SHIRT FOR GAMES/TOURNAMENTS THAT ALL PLAYERS KEEP 

*COST OF  MAROON SOCKS ($19), MAROON SHORTS ($32) &  HOODED JERSEY ($98) IS SEPARATE.

PURCHASE OF MAROON SOCKS & SHORTS IS COMPULSARY FOR GAME DAY UNIFORM, AND PURCHASE OF HOODIE IS OPTIONAL.


(Fundraising by teams to be done towards ALL tournament costs - team entry/accommodation/food/travel expenses - Any shortfall is paid by players)
